THE NETHERLANDS INTRODUCES NEW ROAD TAX FROM 1 JULY 2026
From 1 July 2026, the Netherlands will introduce a new kilometre-based road tax for trucks over 3.5 tonnes
The scheme applies to both Dutch and foreign trucks and covers motorways as well as selected major provincial and municipal roads in the Netherlands.
The new road tax means that transport costs for driving in the Netherlands will change. At HCS, the Dutch road tax will therefore be charged to relevant customers as a separate surcharge.
The purpose is to ensure full transparency, making it clear when a transport is subject to the new Dutch road tax.
If you have any questions about what the new road tax means for your transports to, from or through the Netherlands, you are always welcome to contact your regular contact person at HCS.
